As the auspicious time for the yajna approached, Indra brought a young girl for Lord Brahma to marry. However, sages and priests objected, saying she could not participate in the sacred ritual without purification. Through a divine process involving Kamadhenu, the girl emerged as Goddess Gayatri and was married to Brahma. When Goddess Savitri arrived and saw the yajna underway, she became furious and cursed Brahma that he would be worshipped in no other major temple except Pushkar.
