According to a popular legend, Lord Brahma asked Narad Muni to bring Goddess Savitri for an important yajna. Wanting to create a rare disagreement between his parents, Narad delayed Savitri by telling her to prepare more grandly, while informing Brahma that she would be late. As the auspicious time approached, an angry Brahma ordered Indra to find a suitable girl so the yajna could proceed, setting the stage for a divine conflict that changed Pushkar forever.
