Initially starting with the 14th Ferozepore Sikhs (1st Sikh) and 15th Ludhiana Sikhs (2nd Sikh), the regiment was reorganized into the 11th Sikh Regiment in 1922. Today, it has grown to encompass 20 regular infantry battalions, 3 Territorial Army battalions, and 3 Rashtriya Rifles battalions.
